October 25, Kathmandu. On the last day of his visit to India, Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma has been busy in political meetings on Thursday.

Though efforts were made for a courtesy meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sharma did not meet Modi. Instead, he met Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.

It has been the practice to pay homage to the Chiefs of Army Staff of Nepal and India in each other’s country. In this connection, it is customary for the Chiefs of Army Staff of the two countries to have a courtesy political meeting while visiting each other’s countries.

This is Sharma’s first foreign trip as chief of staff. Tweeting a photo after the courtesy call, Foreign Minister Jaishankar said, “His visit reflects the closeness of our relationship.”

A statement issued by the Nepal Army’s Military Information and Public Relations Directorate said that General Sharma also visited the National Defense College in Delhi.

According to the army, he was honored by posting a photo on the wall of the college. According to the Nepal Army, he was the first person to receive this honor.

“This award is given only to the alumni of the college who have excelled in their field,” the statement said.

Sharma on Wednesday received the Indian Army’s honorary Maharathi badge from Indian President Ram Nath Kovind. According to Army Spokesperson Santosh Vallabh Poudyal, General Sharma is scheduled to return home on Friday.
