Aldi plans to double its stores in London creating 2,400 jobs in battle with Big Four rivals
Aldi is doubling down on its presence in London as it steps up its battle with its ‘big four’ rivals.
The German retailer said it wanted to add to its estate of 60 people inside the M25, creating 2,400 jobs.
It targets empty office buildings, new housing developments and sites near city centers for both its large 20,000 square foot bread and butter stores and its smaller 5-storey local store format. 000 square feet.

The expansion comes as Aldi reaps the rewards of Britons switching to cheaper brands amid the cost of living crisis.
Morrisons lost its place as the UK’s fourth-largest grocer to Aldi last year.
Aldi had sales of £3.1bn in the three months to January 22, up 26.9% on a year earlier.
