British tourist, 32, was ‘sexually assaulted in a taxi on her way back to her hotel after meeting a man at a party in Rhodes’
- Brit, 32, was enjoying a night out at a bar in Lindos on Wednesday last week
- There she met a man with whom she decided to share a taxi to return to his hotel
- She alleged he stuck his hand in her shorts and assaulted her in the taxi
- Greek police have opened a sexual assault case and are looking for the taxi driver to testify
A British tourist was sexually assaulted in the back seat of a taxi last week after a night out on the Greek island of Rhodes, according to reports.
Last Wednesday, the 32-year-old was at a bar in Lindos, on the largest of the Greek Dodecanese islands, where she met a man and decided to go with him.
The pair piled into the back of a taxi and were heading to the tourist’s hotel in Pefkos when the unnamed man started groping her.
She later informed police from the 1st Dodecanese Directorate that the man stuck his hands in his shorts and underwent a physical examination.
The Rhodes prosecutor’s office has filed a complaint against the alleged attacker, while police are looking for the taxi driver so he can provide a statement.

The sexual assault complaint comes a month after another Briton claimed she was raped in a violent attack in western Greece.
The 24-year-old victim told police that a local man violently pulled her hair before raping her on a secluded beach in the town of Palairos on Friday August 19.
Officers arrested a 26-year-old suspect the next day following a manhunt, but Greek authorities released the suspect the following week pending further investigation.
Authorities said the woman returned to the UK after complaining about a young man she met at a local bar frequented mainly by British holidaymakers in western Greece.
She and her friends were vacationing at Neilson Vounaki Beachclub in Paleros.
The two met the same evening, introduced by one of the victim’s friends, also on vacation in the area.
The British tourist claimed she went for a walk on a nearby beach with the man after a night out at a local pub when he raped her.

Police arrested a 26-year-old suspect near Palairos following a manhunt, but released him shortly after after an investigating judge found ‘no compelling grounds’ to keep him in custody
Details of the attacker have not been released, the man’s lawyer said, adding that an investigating judge released his client on Monday after hearing his testimony and “finding no compelling reason to keep him in detention pending trial”.
“The only damning allegation he faces is the accusation made by the alleged victim,” he said.
“But even that,” Masouras joked, “is quickly overturned by a series of unbiased facts presented before the investigating judge, who decided to release him pending trial.”
The 24-year-old victim could not be reached for comment, and authorities have not confirmed his contact details.
