An Ecuadorian fan attending the Qatar World Cup opener was involved in a momentary altercation with fans of the host country inside the stadium on Sunday.
Qatar suffered defeat in their first-ever World Cup match as Ecuador secured two nil wins in front of a packed crowd at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor.
Former Everton striker Enner Valencia scored twice in the first half to secure a big group victory for the South American side in Qatar.
But an Ecuadorian fan who had made it to the game was quickly reprimanded by Qatari fans seated near him as he celebrated his side’s success.
Video posted to Twitter shows the fan dressed in the yellow Ecuador national team jersey standing and singing among a crowd of what appear to be Qatari fans.
As the young supporter points and chants at the opposing supporters alongside him during the game, he finds himself on the receiving end of some exasperated Qataris.

The gentlemen and other supporters then try to calm the situation by telling everyone to “calm down and relax”.
Efforts to try to ease tensions seemed to have worked as a follow-up video showed everyone in good spirits after the event.
The Ecuadorian supporter sat among the fans involved in the passionate moment with him telling the camera that “sometimes passion makes people upset”.
He added: “But we come together for sport, sport brings people together, we are very friendly with each other and I wish Qatar the best.”
“It’s been a great World Cup so far and you guys are so friendly which I love.”
Ecuador will rest before preparing to face the Netherlands on Friday while Qatar hope to improve against Senegal in the group’s other encounter.
