The tragic young girl was found Friday evening in front of a building in the 19th arrondissement of the French capital, near the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, after being reported missing.
Police told French media they discovered signs of kidnapping in the basement of the building and launched a murder investigation.
Detectives are currently reviewing CCTV footage showing the suspect standing in front of Lola’s building carrying a suitcase.
The security camera clip also showed the suspect entering Lola’s apartment building, followed closely by the young victim, at 3:20 p.m.
Officers believe the suitcase seen in the CCTV footage is the same suitcase that was found later that evening containing Lola’s corpse a few blocks away on rue d’Hautpoul.
A local resident told BFMTV that he saw the suspect dragging the suitcase around two hours before Lola disappeared.
“We saw her entering the building, she was all alone… we saw her half an hour later with a suitcase, she was talking a little with everyone, she seemed a little mad,” says the resident.
He went on to allege the suspect left the suitcase on the street as she casually wandered into a pastry shop and bought a croissant before dragging it out.
“She had trouble carrying the suitcase, we thought it was because it was heavy stuff and it was quite thin – we never thought it was a body… He was 17 hours and she was walking around with this suitcase, she even left it in front of a cafe and went to the bakery across the street to buy a croissant as if nothing had happened,” said the witness.

The girl was found outside a building on rue d’Hautpoul (pictured) in the French capital’s 19th arrondissement after being reported missing by her mother when she failed to return from school.
The schoolgirl’s face was covered in duct tape, her feet and fists were bound and she had suffered multiple cuts to her throat, according to reports.
The victim’s mother, Delphine, turned herself in to police at 5 p.m. on Friday night when she became concerned that her daughter had not returned home, and later posted a desperate plea for help on the social networks.
Delphine posted an image of Lola, along with the following message: “Our daughter Lola was last seen at 3:20 p.m. in the company of a woman we do not know in our residence.”
Surveillance footage from the building’s entrance captured only Lola following her suspected killer to her block.
Less than six hours later, a homeless man contacted police after he allegedly tripped over the suitcase and discovered the body inside around 11.30pm on rue d’Hautpoul – a stone’s throw from the victim’s home.
Police arrested several people, including the suspect who was seen carrying the suitcase and the homeless man who said they found Lola’s body.
The public prosecutor confirmed to BFMTV that signs of a struggle had been discovered in one of the basement rooms of Lola’s building.
Paris officials said staff and students at the Georges-Brassens school Lola attended would benefit from psychological support, as well as neighboring schools in the neighborhood.
