A teenage girl has been jailed for two years for her role in the horrific beheading of French teacher Samuel Paty.
The high school civics teacher had his throat cut with a meat cleaver after showing his class a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad in the Paris suburbs.
A 17-year-old Muslim girl at the time of the murder, which occurred on Sunday two years ago, has been convicted of “terrorist criminal association” by the Paris juvenile court.

Many paid tribute to the teacher killed at the time, with the phrase “I Am Samuel” to show their solidarity
It is the first conviction linked to the case after 18-year-old killer Abdullakh Abuyedovich Anzorov was shot dead minutes after his barbaric attack.
The teenager relayed the terrorist’s requests at the time of the killing and was found to have ISIS images and weapons information on her phone.
During sentencing, she expressed a desire to travel to Turkey or Chechnya, with prosecutors saying she still showed signs of radicalization.
But in custody, police said they made comments condemning the killing.
Six other people are in pre-trial detention in connection with Paty’s murder.
The woman was sentenced to three and a half years, including 18 months suspended.
Since the attack, there have been a number of instances where teachers have received threats – even from their students.

In February last year, a French teacher who had warned against the spread of radical Islam in the country was placed under police protection after allegedly receiving death threats.
Didier Lemaire said the threats started after he wrote an open letter saying the state was not doing enough to protect Paty.
In November 2020, a French high school student was arrested for threatening to behead his teacher “like Samuel Paty”.
The student posted a message in a private Snapchat group asking other students to “threat death” to one of their teachers.
weeks earlier, French police have questioned four 10-year-olds who have expressed support for the beheading of Samuel Paty and who said they would kill their own teacher if he ridiculed the Prophet of Islam.
“They justified the assassination of the professor by arguing that it was forbidden to offend the prophet and adding that they would kill their professor if he caricatured the prophet,” said the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Interior , Camille Chaize.
Also in November 2020, a 14-year-old French student was arrested after threatening his teacher as she showed photos of a protest sparked by the attack on Charli Hebdo.
The teenager, from Savigny-le-Temple, would have said to his teacher in class: “I’m going to cut you up like Samuel Paty”.
