Ozzy Osbourne made a triumphant appearance at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., on Thursday as he performed a pair of songs at halftime during the NFL season opener, just months after suffering a “life-changing surgery” in June.

The rocker, 73, took to the stage for his first American performance in four years during halftime of the game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Buffalo Bills, as his wife Sharon, 69, looked on.

While airing the performance, NBC broadcaster Maria Taylor featured Osbourne as he performed the song Patient Number 9, after which the show reverted to a halftime recap.

The rock legend also performed his classic track Crazy Train with Zakk Wylde. He was also accompanied by musicians including drummer Tommy Clufetos, bassist Chris Chaney and guitarist Andrew Watt.

Some viewers were unhappy that the NBC show only featured a fleeting shot of Osbourne’s exit.

“NBC thinks we’d rather hear a 1st half recap than Ozzy Osbourne’s performance is… confusing,” one user wrote, while another said, “WHEN OZZY OSBOURNE PERFORMS LIVE IN THE BUILDING, YOU DON’T HAVE TO CUT TONY DUNGY IN ANY WAY TO HEAR HIS THOUGHTS ON EVERYTHING.

One user said, “NBC really sucks not showing Ozzy Osbourne playing at halftime.”

Last month, Osbourne performed at the Closing Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, held at the Alexander Stadium in his hometown of Birmingham, England.

Osbourne’s performance preceded the release of his new album, Patient Number 9, which features guest appearances from Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Robert Trujillo of Metallica and late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.

Osbourne is also set to return to TV screens alongside his wife Sharon in a new 10-part TV series called Home to Roost – which focuses on their journey back to the UK.

Last month Ozzy, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019, performed on stage in the UK for the first time since undergoing surgery in June. He was released from a Los Angeles hospital in June after undergoing what Sharon called “major surgery” which would “determine the rest of his life”.
