Seeing double! Anthony Albanese’s girlfriend Jodie Haydon wears a dress nearly identical to opposition leader Peter Dutton’s wife Kirilly at the lavish Midwinter Ball in Canberra

Their partners clash regularly in Parliament.

But Anthony Albanese’s girlfriend, Jodie Haydon, clearly shares the same taste in fashion as Peter Dutton’s wife, Kirilly, as the pair both wore nearly identical dresses to the Midwinter Ball in Canberra on Wednesday night.

Arriving on the arm of her prime minister beau, Jodie looked spectacular in a long black dress covered in sequins.

Jodie’s spectacular dress featured a plunging neckline, wrap-around closure and half-length sleeves.

Meanwhile, guests were seeing double when Kirilly Dutton arrived with her husband, the Leader of the Opposition.

Kirilly’s sequin-covered navy dress was strikingly similar to Jodie’s and even featured identical details such as a low neckline and wraparound closure.

The women even chose to style their dresses the same way, each holding a silver bag and adorning their ears with teardrop earrings.

The blondes styled their hair to the side and added lipstick to complete their look.

Unlike Jodie, Kirilly covered her shoulders with an elegant black velvet shawl.

Considered the biggest social event of the year in the nation’s capital, the annual Mid-Winter Ball brought together guests from both sides of the political spectrum.

Due to Covid cancellations, this week’s event was the first Midwinter Ball since 2019.

The gala, which aims to raise funds for charity, began in 2000 and is organized by the Press Gallery of the Federal Parliament.

This is often controversial, however, and this year was no different.

Outspoken Greens Senator Lidia Thorpe, who didn’t get a ticket to the ball, raced down the marble stairs in blue jeans and an Aboriginal flag t-shirt, repeatedly shouting “fossil fools” and holding out middle finger to the assembled guests.

His colleague Sarah Hanson-Young arrived wearing a long white dress with the inscription “End gas and coal” on the back.

The shindig’s sponsors included Shell and Woodside Energy, who were likely unhappy with the dress worn by Ms Hanson-Young.

Mrs. Thorpe later reappeared shouting “Stop destroying the planet…criminals”.

His boss, Greens MP Adam Bandt and his partner Claudia Perkins also caused a stir.

In the past, Ms. Perkins had had the word “coal kills” shaved off her head, while on Wednesday night she had that slogan as well as “gas kills” written in black and red all over her otherwise white dress.
