This is the shocking moment a brave woman forced a car to stop after the driver dragged a terrified donkey along a road in Ireland.
Distressing footage shows the white donkey, with a rope tied tightly around its mouth and tied to the back of the car, being pulled along the road by the driver in Edenberry, County Offaly.
The animal was eventually rescued after a heroine, an animal welfare volunteer who witnessed the shocking incident, yelled at the driver to stop the car.
The video, filmed by the witness who was walking behind the car, shows the donkey being dragged helplessly along the grassy curb next to a main road.

At one point, the donkey slips on the icy grass and struggles to stand as the woman, a volunteer with the charity My Lovely Horse Rescue, shouts at the driver: “Damn, stop, what is – what’s wrong with you?”
The donkey, which is unable to escape as the rope is tied tightly around its mouth and ears and tied to the bumper of the car, is seen hobbling as it struggles to keep up with the vehicle.
The heroine can be heard shouting “stop” as the donkey loses its footing again, its hind legs skidding on the icy sidewalk as it is dragged by the driver.

The animal, head outstretched and legs flexing under the force of the car, tries helplessly to escape the trap of the rope by digging its hooves into the ground but fails to hold on sufficiently.
At this point, the woman can be heard yelling at the driver, “F***ing stop, just stop!”
Finally, after nearly a minute of filming, the car finally stops and the heroine is heard breathing heavily as she checks on the condition of the donkey.

The charity condemned the incident as an “appalling act of cruelty” by sharing a photo of the white donkey safely inside a trailer.
A Garda spokesperson told MailOnline: “An Garda Síochána is aware of images circulating involving an animal in Edenderry, Co. Offaly.
“Although we do not comment on its content, An Garda Síochána is currently investigating an incident under the Animal Health and Welfare Act. The animal was checked by Gardaí and is recovered with their help.
“An Garda Síochána takes all animal welfare issues and related crime very seriously. We ask that any incident be reported to a local Garda station where a complaint will be recorded and thoroughly investigated.
