The pensioner was then rushed to a nearby hospital, where he received four stitches for a head injury and was taken for X-rays for a painful hip injury.
Mr Palmer, speaking to a local Thai reporter, said: ‘I am leaving the condo to cross the road for breakfast. I see the light turn green as it tells me 12 seconds to cross. A man comes towards me and car [hit me].’
The holidaymaker added: ‘If the pick-up driver sees me on the news I would like to tell him to come over and take care of me. Motorists and pedestrians should be more careful when using the roads for everyone’s safety.
He added that he would file a complaint with the police after he returned from hospital.
