Trump tells why some of the leaders who penned private letters in his new book are 'bad'

Former President Donald Trump said Thursday that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un was “not a happy person” with the Biden administration and explained why he decided to include letters from world leaders that he called “bad” people.

“We got a lot of great letters from great people and less great people, to be honest with you. Some good and some bad and some that are in between. But they are very famous people,’ Trump said of the collection of letters he’s including in his new book.

He called Kim, who he previously described exchanging “love letters” with him during his tenure, “cunning”, he told DialyMail.com and a handful of reporters.

“He was very smart, very cunning, very resourceful. And we, we talked a lot, actually, we talked a lot and I think we had a really, you know, great relationship.

It came during an interview where the former president wished his rival Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell well after he fell at the former Trump Hotel.

“I don’t agree with almost everything he does, but I sure would like him to get well,” former President Donald Trump said of the Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell, who suffered a fall at the former Trump Hotel.

“But I thought Kim Jong-un was a very, very interesting guy, and we had a good relationship. And I think he’s not a happy person right now compared to the Biden administration,’ Trump said.

Trump’s book also includes a letter from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is currently engaged in a brutal war against Ukraine, with Russia launching dozens of missiles at its neighbor overnight.

As he has done during his tenure, Trump spoke of the benefits of “getting along” with his rivals – and again asserted that Putin would not have invaded under his watch. (Putin invaded Crimea in 2014 and continues to hold the territory).

“Getting along with these leaders, when they have big, mighty weapons and they, you know, have countries at war. You see what’s going on right now. Getting along is good. I I’ll tell you Russia: zero chance that Russia entered Ukraine. Zero, that would never have happened,” Trump said without further comment on the recent anniversary of the war Putin started.

“And no way China has done what they’re doing and we’ll have to see what happens with Taiwan.” Zero, zero, zero chance. It just wouldn’t have happened.

Trump dodged the question of whether the book included letters that were among the documents held at Mar-a-Lago ahead of an FBI search last summer.

“We have great letters, wonderful letters and some we distribute and some we don’t. I declassified — I had the power to declassify, to do whatever I wanted to do in that regard as president,’ Trump said. “But we have some nice letters, but a lot of those letters still got published.”

Trump’s book includes letters from figures such as Michael Jackson, Oprah Winfrey and Queen Elizabeth II.

It does not include one from Fox News executive Rupert Murdoch, who is quoted in a. Internal testimony and communications revealed in Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit calling Trump “increasingly crazed” and not believing his claims of voter fraud. Opinion leader Tucker Carlson is seen in documents linked to a court filing calling Trump’s post-election behavior “disgusting”.

Trump said Fox News opinion anchors were “really good.”

“I think they really like me and I liked them and I think they’re ok…People should have the right to express their opinion, especially when they’re presenters. And a lot of people when you look at the polls, a lot of people think this election was rigged and stolen and I happen to be one of them.

Trump continued: “I am a denier. I’m an election naysayer, ’embracing the label.’

Trump predicted his book would do “very well,” but then admitted he might not top his first picture book, Journey Together.

“And it’s maybe a step above or maybe a step below. I guess we’ll see about that,” he said.

On the call, Trump also expressed his best wishes to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who fell and hit his head Wednesday night at the Waldorf Astoria – the former Trump-renowned hotel in Washington DC.

Trump commented on McConnell, whom he has clashed with on several occasions since January 6 and with whom he has not spoken with on tap, shortly after it was revealed that the powerful Republican leader had suffered a concussion. brain following his fall.

Trump was initially reluctant when asked about the man who has become a top political foe. ‘No, I don’t know. I heard about it from several people, but I don’t know. I don’t know the seriousness of the situation at all,’ he said in a call with a handful of reporters to discuss his new book, Letters to Trump.

Asked about a statement, he replied: “Well, I don’t disagree with almost everything he does, but I would certainly like him to recover.” I want him to be okay. I want him to be okay. And then come back and be strong.

Trump continued, “Looks like he took a hell of a fall. And it looks like he took quite a fall. And I hope he will be fine. I hope he will improve soon. I wish him good luck. Looks like it took quite a fall. It will be funny. It’ll be fine, I hope it will get better soon.

McConnell exposed Trump as responsible for the Capitol riot after Jan. 6.

In a fiery speech last week, Trump called McConnell a “China-loving politician,” during remarks where he told conservative activists, “I am your punishment.”

“Chef McConnell tripped while dining Wednesday night and was admitted to hospital and is being treated for a concussion,” Chief Communications Officer David Popp said in a statement Thursday afternoon.

“He should stay in the hospital for a few days for observation and treatment. The chef is grateful to the medical professionals for their care and to his colleagues for their warm wishes.

McConnell, 81, was hosting a dinner for his Senate Leadership Fund at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in downtown Washington, DC, when he had the crash. The hotel hosted a variety of high-profile Republican events when it carried the Trump name while Trump was in the White House. The Trump Organization sold the lease on the property amid the pandemic after Trump left the White House, making a big profit. Trump’s book contains letters from figures ranging from Barack Obama to Queen Elizabeth II and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.
