The anonymous fan forcefully punched the goalkeeper twice in the head as members of the crowd could be heard expressing their disbelief at what was happening before their eyes.

The force of the strikers’ blows shattered the corner flag into pieces after wrapping the back of Ozenc’s head for the second time.

A period of confusion seemed to catch security and the other players off guard as the fan was allowed to continue his assault before finally being knocked to the ground.

The striker’s ability to run onto the pitch unchallenged raises concerns over player safety, with the incident raising questions about the disorder for fans at matches across the continent.

The goalkeeper was taken to hospital for further checks on his head injury while referee Emre Kargin sent both players back to their dressing rooms before calling off the game.

Commenting after the incident, Goztepe called for punishing dangerous fans in an official social media post which read, “We wish a speedy recovery to our fans, who were seriously injured by a flare fired from the stadium. Altai”.

“Those who caused these events, WE WANT TO BE TRIED WITH THE SEVERE PUNISHMENT!”
